ASSESSMENT FOR PROGRAM LEVELS

1.  TAN LEVEL ASSESSMENT

Client and dog must show competency with the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) skillset. There are two options:

  • Take the official AKC CGC assessment from an AKC approved CGC Evaluator. The evaluator may be a PHD Instructor or another AKC approved CGC Evaluator. If an evaluator outside of PHD is used, the client must submit documentation to PHD in PDF format by email (preferred) or submit hard copy documentation of passing the assessment. Documentation must include the administering evaluator's AKC CGC Evaluator number.

  • Take the PHD Service Dog Program-specific version of CGC assessment, administered by a PHD Instructor. This is defined as assessment of CGC skills according to all of the official AKC standards, except that the nose halter will be used as gear.
